How do I login to MAP testing? ›

On desktop and laptop computers and Chromebook devices, students take tests directly through the browser. Students log in to testing at https://student.mapnwea.org. Students will need their usernames and passwords to log in. For more information, see Assigning Passwords.

MAP stands for Measures of Academic Progress. MAP is a three-part test that measures student knowledge in reading, language usage and mathematics. All students in grades 2 – 8 will be taking the MAP every year in the fall and spring.

NWEA MAP Growth is a nationally normed, standardized achievement test which measures what students know and informs what they're ready to learn next by using a computer adaptive test that adjusts to the ability and knowledge of the student.

Although it is possible to score as high as 265 or more on the reading test and 285 or more on the math test, 240 (reading) and 250 (math) are typical top scores.

Due to the adaptive test design, a student cannot skip a test item or go back to change an answer after they have advanced to the next question. MAP Growth tests are not timed and students should give their best effort if they receive a question that is more complex. See also: How is the MAP test adaptive?

A gifted map score is a test score that falls within the “gifted” range on a map test scoring chart. This score indicates that an individual has achieved a high level of performance on the standardized map test, demonstrating advanced skills and knowledge in various areas.

MAP tests are independent of students' grades and are adapted to each student's level based on the answers they provide on the test itself.

There is no maximum or "perfect" score on a MAP Growth test. A student's score on any MAP Growth test is a function of both the proportion of questions answered correctly and the difficulty of the questions asked.

That means every student gets a unique set of test questions based on responses to previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions get harder. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions get easier.

Can I retake the MAP test? ›

A student may take a test more than once during a testing window. * When a student retakes a test, the system will determine which test is valid using the following criterium: The test with the lowest standard error of measure (SE) will be the valid test event, regardless of the student RIT score.

Although the tests are not timed, it usually takes students about one hour to complete each MAP test. MAP for Primary Grades tests take from 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

NWEA tests are important to teachers because they keep track of progress and growth in basic skills. They let teachers know where a student's strengths are and if help is needed in any specific areas. Teachers use this information to help them guide instruction in the classroom.

Currently, all 50 states in the United States use the MAP test as an assessment tool. It is also used in some international schools and districts. The widespread use of the MAP test speaks to its effectiveness and benefits in improving student success.

A student cannot log in:

Ensure the student is logging in at https://student.mapnwea.org (or using the MAP Reading Fluency Testing App) using the correct password. Students do not use the same website that teachers use. If you aren't sure of the student's password, you can assign a new password.

Students testing on Windows or Mac computers or on Chromebook devices log in to MAP Reading Fluency at student.mapnwea.org. Students testing on iPad devices use the MAP Reading Fluency app. See Testing and Proctoring Students for more information.
