Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Classroom Basics: Sensory Tools for School, a project from Mrs. Tecson (2)

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration becauseit supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Satisfying our students' sensory needs gives our students the ability to pay attention to lessons, provides social emotional therapy, and provides them with additional opportunities to socialize with others.

The weighted blanket, bean bag and sherpa chairs, along with the vibrating ball pillow and bumble bee, are essential tools we will use to create a sensory-friendly classroom environment so our students can maintain focus, reduce stress and accelerate their learning.

The goal of using these sensory tools in our classroom is so we can best support participation, engagement, and create interactions that promote skill development and learning.

By creating a sensory-informed classroom, we are setting the tone or culture of the classroom to be one of inclusion, acceptance, and differentiation, no matter what the students’ needs are.
